The results of the Head Start Impact Study were released late in 2009 and while the results showed clearly that Head Start children benefit from their year or years in Head Start, the gains that some children make in Head Start are not sustained in the public school setting by the end of first grade. At their February meeting, the Region V Board of Directors aske the Ohio Head Start Association to again host a regional conference, in Chicago. The 2009 Conference hosted by OHSAI was very successful, and the Regional Board is hoping for another equally as successful event.
Following the requests in many of the 2009 conference evaluations, we will be looking for a venue within the city of Chicago and are hopeful that we can find a suitable and convenient facility.
As with previous Regional Conferences, OHSAI will work in close collaboration with the Region V Board, and with key staff at the Regional Office to ensure another outstanding event. We anticipate the Conference will be held sometime in late October or early November of 2011.

Last year, OHSAI held a Technology Conference in May. This year, we have opted to host a Technology Track as part of the June Leadership Conference and to invite the Vendors who were at the 2009 Technology Conference to exhibit at the June Conference. We are also exploring ways to allow those vendors to host “user’s groups” for interested participants. If there are specific topics you’d like to see us address as part of the June Conference Technology Track, please let me know.
Mark you calendar for the OHSAI June Leadership and Professional Development Conference, June 7-10, 2010 at the Dayton Marriott. Watch for more information in the coming weeks.
