The annual OHSAI June Leadership and Professional Development Conference will be held June 6-9, 2011 at the Dayton Marriott.

We are in the process of formulating an agenda that will support Head Start Leadership at all levels of the organization, including dynamic keynote speakers and a variety of intensive breakout sessions.  Watch for more details and registration materials in the coming weeks.

OHSAI April Meeting

Thursday, April 14th

Doubletree Columbus – Worthington

The agenda for this one day meeting includes a variety of content for Head Start Administrators, Staff and Parents.  We’ll address issues like LEA Interagency Agreements, Building Attachment and Self-Regulation in Infants and Toddlers, Balancing Roles in Family Services, Preparing for CLASS Recertification, Transition Issues, Healthy Habits and much more.  Of course we’ll also cover the latest news from the state and federal levels on issues that impact our work in Head Start.

Recruiting for APPLE:Ohio Research Study

EC Q-Net is recruiting for the Fall 2011 Cohort  for APPLE:Ohio (Assessing Preschool Professionals’ Learning Experiences). This study will help determine the impact of professional development on early childhood teaching and learning.

Applications for Mary T. Patterson Scholarship Due April 30th

The Mary T. Patterson scholarship (up to $500) is awarded to a former Head Start child who is a high school senior or high school graduate to support their pursuit of higher education.  This may include college, a certification program, or any training that will increase the applicant’s educational and employment opportunities.

In addition, the Ohio Head Start Association awards two additional scholarships ($100 each) in memory of Oscar B. Griffith, Jr.   All scholarships will be presented at the OHSAI June Leadership Conference.
